Easy DIY Aspirin Face Mask For Acne

When you think of aspirin, you probably think of it as simply a pain reliever for minor aches and pains, right?  Well, what if I told you it can be used to treat acne too?

Do I have you undivided attention?  I do?  Great!

In this post I am going to go over how you can make this easy DIY aspirin face mask for acne.  But first, let’s talk about why this homemade mask works so well.

What Makes Aspirin Good For Acne?

You might be wondering, “why the heck would I put aspirin on my face??”

Aspirin’s key ingredient is something called acetylsalicylic acid, which is derived from salicylic acid.  Salicylic acid is an exfoliator, which means it unclogs pores.

More importantly, aspirin is an anti-inflammatory.  So if your acne of the inflamed kind, you may benefit from aspirin’s anti-inflammatory properties to calm down the swelling.

How To Make An Aspirin Face Mask For Acne

Making an aspirin face mask is easy.  Just follow the steps below.

Step 1

Using a pestle and mortar, crush about 5 aspirin pills into a fine powder.  Transfer the powder into your mixing bowl.

Add a dollop of manuka honey to the bowl and start mixing with the aspirin.  You can add more honey as needed, until you get the consistency you like.Aspirin and honey face mask in a pink bowl

Step 3

Apply the mask to your face with your mask applicator brush and leave on for 15 minutes.

I love making this aspirin face mask any time I feel a pimple coming through.  What’s also great is that the manuka honey is amazing at fighting acne because of its antibacterial properties.  So not only are you bringing down the inflammation, but you’re also killing the bacteria.
