It had been a hectic last few months, and with all that came one of the worst acne breakouts I have ever had (and I’ve had some bad ones).
I had developed the worst types of acne – cystic and nodular acne. It was devastating. I wanted to cancel all my outings. But instead of shutting myself out from the world, I decided to do some research. That is when I came across a viral post on Twitter about a girl who claimed she had cured her cystic acne with a natural green tea honey face mask. I was intrigued, so I gave it a try.

Ingredients For Your Green Tea Honey Face Mask
You could make this mask with just the green tea and honey, but I decided to mix in some aspirin to help bring the inflammation down even more.

You can find green tea and aspirin at your local supermarket. If you have trouble finding raw Manuka honey, you can easily order it online. I recommend using raw Manuka honey over the processed honey you find at grocery stores because of its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It’s a double whammy for acne.
Tools To Make Your DIY Green Tea Honey Face Mask
I used a kitchen plate to mix my mask, but I think having these tools would come in handy if you are going to be making DIY face masks frequently. I do plan on investing in these myself. Plus, they’re very affordable!

How To Make A Green Tea Honey Face Mask For Acne
Step 1
Place a few aspirin tablets on a plate and crush them using the back of a spoon until they become a powder. Alternatively, you can use a mortar and pestle to make the crushing easier and not ruin your kitchenware.
If you are applying the mask to your whole face, you may need about 4-5 tablets. I only used two tablets since I didn’t need to cover my whole face.
Step 2
Open a green tea bag and dump some of the dry tea leaves onto your plate or cosmetic mixing bowl. I usually do equal parts of the aspirin and green tea. Mix it well.

Step 3
Now take a dollop of the Manuka honey and start mixing it with the green tea and aspirin until you have a thick paste.
Step 4
Now you are ready to apply your mask. Gently spread it over the affected area (or your whole face if you want) with your face mask applicator. I mainly focus on my chin since that is where my breakout is the worst. I do apply it on any other part of the face that I have a pimple or feel one coming in.
Leave the mask on for twenty minutes, then gently rinse it off. I actually will leave this mask on for an hour since it does not irritate my skin at all. You can test it out and see what works for you.
Because of the hydrating effects of the Manuka honey, it does not dry out the skin so you can get away with leaving it on longer.
