Best Makeup Product For Oily Skin

Paula’s Choice Shine Stopper is the best makeup product for oily skin.  Seriously, this stuff is awesome!

I’ve been using this for a couple of years and it has definitely improved my makeup game.  I like to think of it as my secret weapon for oil control.

Now listen, my skin is pretty darn oily.

Paula’s Choice Shine Stopper has helped keep my oily skin in check way better than anything else I’ve tried.

So what makes this such an amazing makeup product for oily skin?

Paula’s Choice Shine Stopper Review

What Is The Paula’s Choice Shine Stopper?

The Paula’s Choice Shine Stopper is a primer.  However, it’s more than just a primer because you could wear it either under or over your makeup.  So I think of it as more like an oil absorbing magical substance.

It uses something called Microsponge technology (or magic?) to soak up oil on your face.  You can expect to be shine free for several hours.

The Paula’s Choice Shine Stopper also minimizes the appearance of pores and smooths skin imperfections.

What Is The Consistency Of The Paula’s Choice Shine Stopper?

The consistency is like a light lotion.  It comes out white, but it will go on clear as it soaks in to your skin.  As it dries, it will become sort of powder-like.

How To Apply The Paula’s Choice Shine Stopper

This is so important.  You have to apply this the right way, otherwise you’re going to think you hate it.

Let me tell you a little story about a girl who didn’t read directions.

When I first used it I rubbed in on my face like a lotion.  That was a big mistake.   As it started to dry it started balling up on my skin.  You should have seen my face of disgust.

How You Should Really Apply It

You have to pat this on your skin.  DO NOT rub it in.  You’ll want to squeeze a small amount on your hand and lightly pick some of it up with your finger and dab it on to the areas of your face where you get oily.

You’re going to press it in until it is absorbed.  Pick up a small amount at a time.  You really don’t need much.  Try not to go over the same spot for too long either.

Is It Better To Wear It Under Or Over Your Makeup?

You can use this under or over your makeup.  Isn’t that cool!  However, I don’t like using it under my makeup so much.  I don’t love it as a stand alone primer.

I prefer applying it over my makeup because it’s oil-absorbing power seems to be much stronger that way.  Just make sure your foundation is completely dry before applying the Shine Stopper.

You can try it both ways to see what works best for you!

It Keeps You Shine-Free For Several Hours!

On me it lasts quite a while.  When I apply it over my makeup, I’m usually able to go a full 8 hour work day without having to blot.   I might get a little bit of oil coming through, but not enough for me to be annoyed.

If you have a longer workday or you’re going to be out all day, you can reapply the Shine Stopper.  Just blot any excess oil with a blotting sheet and then dab a tiny bit of the Shine Killer over your makeup.

Any Cons?

The main con for the Paula’s Choice Shine Stopper is that it can start balling up on your skin if you rub it in.  But if you follow the instructions on proper application, you should not experience this so much.

Also, if you buff foundation over it, it can have a tendency to sort of peel in certain areas.  This is another reason why I prefer applying it over my makeup.

Another thing to consider is that if you apply too much, you might feel a little dry.  But hey, it is the best makeup product for oily skin after all.  That’s how good it is at soaking up that oil!

Paula’s Choice Shine Stopper Is The Best Product For Oily Skin!

In my opinion, the Paula’s Choice Shine Stopper is a must have if you have oily skin.  I have tried a lot of products for oil control and this has been the best makeup product for oily skin so far.  It goes well with your makeup, but you could even wear it on its own.

So if you’ve been pulling your hair out trying to keep your oily skin in check, give the Shine Stopper a try!  You can thank me later, girlfriend 😉

Psst… This face powder is also great for oil control!
